John Barton - Chairman (Non Executive)

John has held a variety of corporate roles over the last 30 years, in a wide range of fields, having worked extensively throughout Europe and Africa, starting in the United Kingdom and having been in South Africa for the last 30 years, he has acquired great expertise and knowledge. John is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant.

John brings with him new ideas and fresh input, joining the engineering sector from a Mining and Paper & Pulp background. His goal orientation and achievements show his perseverance and commitment to a strong work ethic.

John has extensive outside business affiliations and interests, currently pursuing the development of his own consulting company. His on-going philosophy is to strive to find the right balance between active business involvement, family time and leisure as well as giving back to society.

John was appointed to the Board of Redis Construction Afrika as the Chairman and Non-executive Director.
 

Solly Ismail – Director, Managing

Solly brings a unique skills set to the construction sector, having spent the first 20 years of his career in a heavy manufacturing environment providing sophisticated equipment to the petro-chemical industry. During these formative years, his technical aptitude, combined with his ability to mobilize large, diverse teams to common objectives, resulted in his rapid elevation to the executive leadership of this business, whilst also being the first person of colour to be appointed to the company’s Board.
Having achieved the goals he set for himself in this environment, Solly moved to the construction sector in 2000. Since then, he has successfully lead many large, multi-discipline construction projects serving in an executive capacity with a subsidiary of one of South Africa’s large, listed construction companies.

Solly was appointed to the Board of Redis Construction Afrika in 2005 as the Managing Director.

Clinton Redman – Director, Operations

Clinton commenced his career in 1990 as an engineer-in-training with one of South Africa’s premier construction companies, spending his formative years in the fast-paced construction and engineering environment.

In 1995, with a view to broadening his experience, he joined a large steel production facility, where he remained for the next three years. Having demonstrated potential he was soon promoted to a senior management position.

Clinton’s enthusiasm for all things construction saw his return to the construction sector in 1998. His can do attitude and enthusiastic, vibrant leadership style have seen him lead many complex construction projects to a successful conclusion, often in remote locations throughout Africa.

Clinton was appointed to the Board of Redis Construction Afrika in 2006 with responsibility for construction projects.

Paul Edwards – Director, Commercial and Estimating

Having spent the greater part of his career leading and directing construction projects throughout Southern Africa, Paul has, over the past 20 years, fulfilled a variety of roles both on-site and at a corporate level.

Paul has served on the Board of one of South Africa’s foremost construction companies, as well as spending time in a leading global project management company.

Paul currently leads the commercial and estimating capability within Redis Construction Afrika and also holds executive responsibility for risk management.

Paul was appointed to the Board of Redis Construction Afrika in 2005.

Stuart Grant – Director, Finance

A Chartered Accountant, Stuart previously spent 21 years with an international firm of auditors and business advisors. Stuart brings with him a wealth of experience gained from continual exposure to global best practice and ongoing involvement in the financial management of a wide variety of organisations.

With a particular interest in owner-managed businesses, Stuart has participated in the growth and success of many such companies, ranging from small to large, listed enterprises.

Stuart joined Redis Construction Afrika in 2005.

Dean Naidoo – Executive, Human Resources

Dean has been involved with people and organisational development for well over 12 years . His passion for people and service delivery is the driving force behind the human resources division within Redis Construction Afrika and is paramount in the role that it plays within the organisation. Redis’ motto of PEOPLE FIRST, forms the fabric of the organisations culture. Dean’s focus is on helping people maximise their potential and thus achieve optimal organisational performance. Dean has a passion for finding and growing employees with the right skills and attitude and to ensure Redis Construction Afrika becomes the best in its field.

Dean is also responsible for general human resources function as well as looking after the welfare of employees seconded to remote sites.

Dean joined the team in July 2008.

Dumisani Henry Shezi – Project Controls Manager

With excess of 15 years experience, Henry brings a wealth of knowledge with him to Redis Construction Afrika. He first started off with a leading construction company almost 2 decades ago where he gradually built his way up working on many successful projects.

Henry has worked throughout Southern, Western and Central Africa at management level where he has attained an extensive administrative knowledge of engineering and construction projects along with the highly sensitive foreign regulatory issues thereof. He has successfully completed a vast number of projects within time and budget in highly stressful environments including Mining, Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper and Minerals Processing.

He then Joined Redis Construction Afrika in February 2006 and since then has had a positive valuable input where he successfully integrated his specialized skills into the company.

Henry was appointed Project Controls Manager in September 2008 where he will be actively involved in the management of all projects.
